My Way

When I was a little girl, my mama taught me to do things for myself. While many of my classmates would come to school with their hair done by their moms, I’d come in my own created hairdo because often times, when I asked my Mama to fix my hair, she would tell me, “No, you have to learn to do I yourself.”

You can guess that with an upbringing like that, my sisters and I grew up to be an independent and capable women. Nothing wrong with that. But now I realized that being strong and independent is sometimes a hindrance to having a good relationship with God. I have to unlearn many things including being impulsive, doing things my way and at my time, and deciding according to my will not His.
