Don’t walk barefoot in the grass, where yellow jackets nest. Avoid perfumes, colognes and aftershaves, which attract stinging insects. Wear loose –fitting clothing. Cover food. Yellow jackets love junk food: Hamburgers and hot dogs—not to mention cold beer!—are favorites. They also lover peanut butter. Distract would-be moochers from your spread by placing a decoy bowl of sugar and water or soda a few feet away from your picnic area.
