Travel Light

March 23, 2008

When we travel, we pack our things in one bag. On the return trip, we’d be carrying almost the equivalent of two bags. We buy a lot of keepsakes, many of the things we buy back from our travels are gifts given in goodwill. The gifts are nice reminders but the more important things we bring home don’t get packed in bags and suitcases. They’re the impressions we make and receive. They’re the words we say and don’t say, the things we do and don’t do.

Ukay-Ukay

March 21, 2008

Despite the financial crisis in the Philippines, people can afford to wear imported clothes without financial burden. This was made possible by the so-called “ukay-ukay”— slightly used clothes, shoes, and accessories made in other countries purchased in bulk by group of Filipinos and sold in retail to the public at low prices. It’s not only the marginalized and average-class people who are indulged in “ukay-ukay”-buying but as well as famous actresses and rich people. Who would not be interested in it anyway? Cheap yet of the same quality with those sold at the malls at very high prices.

Classified Odds

March 6, 2008

I was searching for a possible job in the classified ads section one day. I saw a job hiring for postal workers. A man answered the phone I told him of my intent to apply. He asked me my name and address. Only to find out the one I applied was an assignment in the US Navy! so I told the man, what are the qualifications, if I will change my mind and apply later? So he asked my age and I said I’m 46 and he said--Ahh! Sorry but we only hire ages from 19-34 years old!!...oh so isn't that odd??

The Powers That Be

Few people have ESP or better known as Extra Sensory Powers. This we call the gifted ones". But didn’t you know that all of us in this world have this innate God
given gift? In ancient times people who lived on earth just go about their daily lives with the use of their five senses. For example, they easily knew storm or imminent danger is coming by the help of their senses-hearing, feelings and smell. That is because in those times people's lives then were not complicated, not noisy they have no communication equipments, no jeepneys, no cars, not much people around that will make their lives noisy. So they are always in commune with nature so that their ESP were made into full use. Unlike what the present times we have now where everything in our lives are complicated and we are stressed with our lifestyles that we tend to forget to forget to commune and connect with nature. Hence our gifts or innate powers like ESP are not working with us anymore.
